November Nor'easter 2009 Outer Banks

The Sunny Skies are finally out after 3 days of harsh winds, waves and rain. The November Nor'easter lingered around for several days producing severe flooding in some areas of the Outer Banks. A few homes in South Nags Head were lost into the ocean as result of the storm and many more homes across the island suffered flood and wind damage. Many roads were impassable over the last few days making it seemingly impossible to get anywhere. Thankfully the rain has stopped and the sun has come out, hopefully to dry up all the rain. Here are some photos of the November Nor'easter.

  1. A race official came by at around mile 15 and assured us that we were doing well enough to make the bridge!
There was water, there were spectators, there was encouragement. We have finished 14 marathons and more half marathons in the last half dozen years... and seldom had such encouragement to finish. (We 2 are not so fast.)
Alas, my knee injury was not up to it, and we had to quit .. but my deepest appreciation to you OBX Marathon folks for a marvelous race.

Our best wishes and prayers for the people of OBX in storm recovery.
