July 4th, 2010 Fireworks on the Outer Banks

Traveling to the Outer Banks for this 4th of July? You'll need to know where the extravagant fireworks displays will take place and to come early with a blanket for the family to get a good spot! This year the Outer Banks has only two Fireworks displays; Corolla - Whalehead Club & Manteo - Roanoke Island Festival Park.

North Carolina prohibits the possession of any pyrotechnics which launch or propel into the air, or which explode making a sound or "report." Sparklers, fountains and ground displays are allowed only with adult supervision and when exercising extreme caution and fire prevention. Fireworks are illegal in Dare County, including all towns and villages.

North Carolina Symphony Outer Banks Summer Concert – June 20th
9th Annual Free Concert At Roanoke Island Festival Park

The Dare County Tourism Board is proud to partner with The Roanoke Island Commission to present the North Carolina Symphony for the 9th Annual Summer Pops Concert at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo on Sunday, June 20, 2010. Once again, this event is free to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend. Bring a picnic basket and portable chairs or blankets to enjoy a fantastic program under the stars that will include “Mardi Gras” from Ferde Grofe’s Mississippi Suite and “Wedding March” from Felix Mendelsson’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Also highlighting the performance will be the Overture to The Merry Wives of Windsor by Otto Nicolai, including a selection from Verdi’s Aida.

“This year, the North Carolina Symphony performance falls on Father's Day,” explains Lee Nettles, Managing Director of the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau. “What a great way to celebrate the occasion. Resident Conductor William Henry Curry really engages his audience and presents personal anecdotes that make the program accessible and fun for music lovers of all ages and backgrounds. For us, this is one of those moments where locals and visitors come out for a common love of timeless music.”

As host venue, Roanoke Island Festival Park offers a premium acoustic and visual concert experience at their state-of-the-art Outdoor Pavilion. Bring a picnic and chairs or blankets and prepare for an incredible display on stage with the beautiful Roanoke Sound providing gorgeous backdrop.

Gates open at 6:00 p.m. with a pre-show starting at 7:00 p.m. featuring the Outer Banks Chorus directed by David Evans. Their program will include “The Way You Look Tonight,” “High Flight” and “All the Things You Are,” among others. The North Carolina Symphony will take the stage at 8:15 p.m. The new inclement weather location will be at First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills. Doree Scarborough has accepted the position of Duck Rental Manager in Beach Realty/Kitty Hawk Rental’s Sound front Duck office adjacent to Sanderling. Doree’s well rounded understanding of the Outer Banks rental market is attributable to her 25+ years of experience in all aspects of rental management. Doree has extensive experience in both vacation rental service management as well as general property management and brings a refreshing approach to our team. We look forward to the opportunity to work with Doree and am confident that her expertise and guidance will continue the outstanding service the Duck Team has provided to our Owners and Guests in the past and will so in the future.

We are pleased to announce the newest team member to our Corolla Rental Office, Therese Moorefield as Rental Manager, who comes to us with extensive Property Management experience, enthusiasm and exclusive owner relations experience. Therese has been a Property Manager in the Northern Beaches for the past 6 years has received 5 employee of the month awards, manager of the year award in 2007 and office of the year award. Living on the Outer Banks since 1991 and starting in Property management in 1992, her familiarity of the area will be an asset and we welcome her to the Beach Realty and Kitty Hawk Rentals family.

Hands Across the Sand Coming to the Outer Banks June 26th, 2010

Hands Across the Sand is coming to the Outer Banks on June 26th, 2010 beginning on Bonnett Street in Nags Head. Hands Across the Sand is a movement made of people of all walks of life and crosses political affiliations. This movement is not about politics; it is about protection of our coastal economies, oceans, marine wildlife, fishing industry and coastal military missions.
